Paddle to Pine Island/Hike to Hawks Rest

Meet at Patterson Environmental Park. Bring your own boat and PFD (personal flotation device) for a paddle to Pine Island. Once there, hike to Hawk's Rest and back to the boats. Moderately difficult. Space is limited, so call Rick (845) 878-6486 to reserve a spot. No one under 12 please.

Naturalist-led Great Swamp Canoe Trips

Two-hour guided canoe trips in the Great Swamp from Green Chimneys launch. Adults or children 6-14 welcome. Great for scouts and less experienced paddlers. Adults: $27 members/$32 non-members. Children: $14 members/$16 non-members. Pre-registration required. Call Jill (845) 878-9603.

Sunset Photography & Paddle Excursion

The Great Swamp - Brewster, NY

An evening paddle in the Great Swamp with avid paddler and photographer Justin P. Goodhart. We will be meeting approximately 2 hours before sunset and will be staying on the water until just after sunset, so the last part of the paddle with be in relative darkness. This is one of the most beautiful and peaceful times to be on the swamp. This is a relatively short flat water paddle with no portages, but we will be photographing from our boats. Some instruction will be given, but please be familiar the functionality of you camera, much of our shooting will be more successful in manual, aperture priority and shutter priority modes. Experienced paddlers and photographers only that are 18 years of age or older.

This will be a limited and fairly small group so make your reservations early. To reserve your spot please email Justin Goodhart at
