A Year in the Life of FrOGS: 2011

Read the 2011 FroGS report card on the About Frogs page.

FrOGS receives many requests for information about using the Swamp for recreational activities. Please review our Recreation page for details.

For more information on the Swamp, be sure to click the "About the Swamp" button on the top of this page and review the topic menu on that page.

FrOGS is dedicated to the protection and preservation of the Great Swamp of Dutchess and Putnam Counties through science and education. The Great Swamp watershed covers 6000 acres and is one of the largest freshwater wetlands in the state of New York.

The friends of the Great Swamp are volunteers working with public and private agencies to preserve this unique and important area. We hope that the FrOGS website will help you learn more about the Swamp and, more importantly, how you can join FrOGS to protect it. Be sure to click the Join FrOGS button to learn how you can become a friend of the Great Swamp.

Barren trees are reflected in the unfrozen waters of the Great Swamp as ice begins to form as the temperatures drop below freezing.

FrOGS is grateful to the photographers who have contributed the photos displayed on this page. Through these photos we hope to show areas of the Great Swamp that are not readily accessible to most people. We hope you will agree that the Great Swamp is a precious and beautiful resource that needs to be protected.
